Gambling Limits

1. Why limits help
Deciding in advance how much money and time you want to spend is one of the most effective ways to keep gambling enjoyable. A limit set calmly, before you play, protects you from in-the-moment decisions — the extra deposit after a near miss, the session that runs longer than planned — and makes it easier to treat play as entertainment with a known cost, never as a way to chase losses or earn income. Research on player protection consistently shows that people who use limits spend closer to what they intended and enjoy their play more. Limits are free, private, and entirely your choice: no one is notified, and support staff will never suggest you remove one.

2. Deposit limits
A deposit limit caps the total amount you can add to your account per day, per week or per month. Once the cap is reached, further deposits are declined automatically — politely and without exception — until the period resets. You can combine periods, for example a smaller daily cap inside a larger monthly cap, to mirror how you actually budget. All amounts are in Canadian dollars (CAD). Choose an amount you would be comfortable spending on any other entertainment; if you are unsure, start lower — tightening is instant, and you can always review later. New players are prompted to consider a deposit limit at registration.

3. Spend limits and what counts
Your deposit limit governs money moving into your account, which is the clearest measure of what play actually costs you. Winnings credited to your balance and replayed do not raise your limit, and a withdrawal does not free up limit room within the same period. This design keeps the limit honest: the number you chose is the most that can leave your wallet in the period, whatever happens in the games. Your account page always shows how much of each limit period has been used and when it resets.

4. Time limits
A daily time limit caps how long you can play in a day. You choose the number of minutes or hours; when your session budget is used up, new plays are blocked until the next day, though you can still view your history, manage your account and withdraw. Time limits are especially useful for fast games such as instants, where sessions can slip by quickly. Many players pair a modest time limit with reality checks so that time spent playing stays a conscious choice rather than a habit.

5. Reality checks
Reality checks are periodic on-screen reminders that tell you how long you have been playing and how much you have spent in the session, and ask whether you want to continue. You choose the interval — for example every 30 or 60 minutes. The reminder pauses play until you actively choose to continue or stop, which interrupts autopilot and gives you a natural moment to take a break. Reality checks are on by default for new accounts and can be adjusted, but we recommend keeping them on.

6. Lowering a limit — instant
Making a limit stricter — lowering a deposit or time cap, or adding a new one — always takes effect immediately. There is no waiting period, no confirmation email to wait for, and no review: the tighter setting applies to your very next deposit or session. If you ever feel your current limits are too loose, tighten them right away and take a moment before playing again.
-
7. Raising or removing a limit — 24-hour cooling-off
Raising or removing a limit only takes effect after a 24-hour cooling-off period, and you must confirm the change again once the period has passed; an unconfirmed request simply lapses. This delay is a deliberate safeguard required by our licence, not a delay tactic: it ensures a decision made in the heat of a session cannot override one you made calmly. During the cooling-off period your existing, stricter limit remains fully in force. Support staff cannot shorten or waive the delay for any reason.

8. Managing your limits
All limits are managed from the limits section of your account: you can see each active limit, how much of the current period is used, pending changes and their effective dates. Changes are logged so you always have a record of what was set and when. If you need help choosing sensible numbers, our support team can walk you through the options without judgement — though they will never see or suggest specific amounts for you. If limits alone do not feel like enough, a break or self-exclusion offers a stronger pause.

9. Help beyond limits
Limits are a tool, not a treatment. If gambling has stopped feeling like entertainment — if you are spending more than planned, hiding play from people close to you, or gambling to escape stress — free and confidential help is available 24/7 from Jeu : aide et référence at 1-800-461-0140 or aidejeu.ca. The service also supports family members. You can combine professional support with our tools: many people set strict limits or self-exclude while they work things through. Reaching out is a sign of strength.
